Hollywood Fringe Festival, Gia On The Move, NIGHT OF THE ROOTBEER, #HFF18

Reviewed by Matt Ritchey

Getting tickets to an All-Star game in MLB isn’t easy and will set you back hundreds of dollars. Getting tickets to an All-Star Fringe show at Three Clubs is free. And will free your mind.

There are a lot of reasons to see Night of the Rootbeer, a new comedic surrealistic immersive puppet show by Michael Shaw Fisher and directed by JJ Mayes (okay, there are no puppets, but it’s about the only thing missing). With a huge cast of some of the most recognizable faces in the Vine St. Fringe scene, the show tells the story of a reunion; a reunion where the best twenty best friends ever get together at the ‘ol bar which has changed so much but hasn’t really, at all in fact. Oh, there’s drama about to ensue for sure, as the friends reveal their true feelings, their past regrets, the fact that they’re carrying guns, and that it’s hard to talk to the chef on account of his accent.

No summation of what does or doesn’t happen in Night of the Rootbeer will suffice. It’s a wild exploration impressively staged by a host of great actors and is, most importantly, hysterical and a TON of fun! If you have thirty minutes to down some great cocktails and watch talented people lose their minds to entertain you, GO!!

Highly Recommended
