SCHOOL FOR LOVE is a joyous jukebox musical, showcasing five excellent singer/actors. Put together by writer/performer Pam Eberhardt, the show tells a story of secret, unrequited, spurned and rediscovered love without a word of dialogue. Using songs from everywhere, from the Great American Songbook to Dear Evan Hansen, we follow the romantic adventures of the pupils and teachers.

J. Bailey Burcham directs with surety and style, each song moving the story forward, and the interplay between characters is both grounded and funny.

Highlights for me were “Unchained Melody” sung by Jeff Scot Carey and Lucas Alifano, and “Oops I Did It Again” sung by Parissa Koo. There was also an excellent and intricate Beatles medley for all five interweaving voices.

Sydnee Ortiz brings real depth to her role as a teacher going through a divorce and wondering if she will find love again.

As a cabaret show with a storyline, School For Love is in a class of its own.
