Right in our backyard is a more than outstanding locally hand-crafted idea guaranteed to live up to the juicy buzz and play down the overhype of new comfort foods.
Astro Doughnuts & Fried Chicken in Santa Monica on Main Street has been cookin’ this October with a month-long Pumpkin Spice Takeover including specials ranging from a fried chicken sandwich on a savory pumpkin spice doughnut to pumpkin pie doughnuts filled with pumpkin spice pastry cream and Kern River Pumpkin Ale.
We recently attended a casual soiree and sampled each of the aforementioned treats. Amazing doesn’t even begin to describe just how good it is.
The overall favorite was the Candy Apple doughnut with apple filling accompanied by absolutely succulent fried chicken tenders fully complimented by the seriously outstanding Pumpkin Ale.
In a word, perfect!
Simple treats without any tricks. The menu is fun, affordable, casual and kid-friendly. The Santa Monica location also has a backyard table area. Indulge in a special menu of sweet and savory fall flavors in Astro’s cozy pumpkin patch. There is also a shop in downtown Los Angeles.
