The Second City Hollywood 1st Annual Bob Curry Fellowship Submissions Open May 22

The Second City Hollywood has announced its First Annual Bob Curry Fellowship. This one-of-a-kind professional development master program, named for the first African-American Second City performer, offers up to 16 fellowships to qualifying actors and improvisers from diverse multicultural backgrounds to train and study at The Second City Hollywood Training Center.

Now in its fifth year at Second City’s home base in Chicago, this unique fellowship boasts a rigorous master program for serious-minded talent seeking a career in sketch comedy. The highly competitive fellowship is tuition-free and awarded to exceptional talent selected by auditions and adjudicated by Second City directors and producers.

Said Andrew Alexander, CEO & Executive Producer of The Second City, “It’s fantastic to see how far we’ve come as an institution since we started our Outreach program in 1992. But the work is not done and I’m thrilled that our team has created such a valuable and intensive program of study that we can offer tuition-free in the name of one of our treasured alumni who was a true trailblazer.”

The Bob Curry Fellowship program is specifically seeking talent/applicants including, but not limited to, those who identify as any of the following — Asian Pacific, Subcontinent Asian, African American, Hispanic, Native American, and Middle Eastern.

Submissions for the First Annual Bob Curry Fellowship in Hollywood will be accepted on Tuesday, May 22 and Wednesday, May 23 until 5pm. (Early submissions will not be viewed or qualify.)

Applicants should submit a headshot and resumé to outreach@secondcity.com (during the submission window only.

Auditions will be held on Tuesday, June 19, with callbacks on Wednesday, June 20. The auditions will consist of 20 minutes of group improvisation and a personal choice of a one-minute comedic monologue or stand-up piece.
