For one very special night, the Los Angeles Women’s Theatre Festival (LAWTF) comes to Culver City for a unique performance on Sunday, June 24, 2018 at 8:00 p.m. at Ivy Substation, 9070 Venice Blvd., Culver City, CA 90232.
Legends, Movement and Memories marks the LAWTF’s eighth consecutive annual program for residents of Culver City. This performance is made possible in part by a Culver City Performing Arts Grant with support from Sony Pictures Entertainment.
The evening will be hosted by award-winning pop legend Florence La Rue (an original member of the superstar vocal group The 5th Dimension) and Kym Whitley (ABC Family’s Young and Hungry).
R&B legendary star, award-winning Freda Payne will premiere an excerpt from her nationally-touring show Ella Fitzgerald, First Lady of Song.
Award-winning Broadway star Eloise Laws (It Ain’t Nothin’ But the Blues), a member of a legendary jazz family (Ronnie, Hubert, Debra Laws) will sing for you.
Dancer Juli Kim will perform two dance selections informed by her Korean heritage: Five Drum Dance, and a dance to be announced.
Actor-dancer Alina Cenal performs Words from a Cuban Father: Alina’s strong influence of her father guides her through a world of mambo, revolution, Fidel, hot dogs, Miami, the circus and Hollywood as she is yanked from her native Cuba as a child to explore a new life that challenges her roots.
The Los Angeles Women’s Theatre Festival, a non-profit arts organization, was founded by Executive Producer Adilah Barnes and Miriam Reed.
Tickets for the performance are $20 in advance, $25 at the door. Industry (with valid I.D.), seniors, students, $18.
