Don’t just “dine out”!
One of the bigger reasons to attend is the lesser known side of San Diego Restaurant Week and the San Diego County Chapter of the California Restaurant Association which often flies under the radar: This Restaurant Week is a community centered, philanthropic undertaking that continues long after a mere eight days of dining.
Unlike a majority of Restaurant Weeks throughout the country that are organized by for-profit companies, San Diego Restaurant Week is run as a non-profit organization; generating funds which go back into their community to support a wide variety of culinary arts and garden programs throughout San Diego’s inner-city schools.
Support and involvement in programs such as the Food 4 Kids Backpack Program, which provides backpacks of food for chronically hungry elementary school students to take home over the weekend, have shown the true reach of SDRW’s ability to utilize one week of dining to transform the lives of those in their community.
