Iconic Hollywood’s historic restaurant Yamashiro (Mountain Palace), built in 1914 and located at 1999 Sycamore Ave., is re-opening its popular Farmer’s Market on Wednesday, May 24 from 5-9 p.m. and every Wednesday this summer through Sept. 6.

“We know how important this event is not only to our own customers, but to the people of Los Angeles,” says BNG Operator Freddy Braidy. “We’re thrilled to see the Farmer’s Market return and to invite everyone to enjoy the outdoor activities and Yamashiro’s scenic property.”

A beloved staple of LA’s summertime culture, this year’s Farmer’s Market will feature live entertainment, food trucks, drink stations and a host of new food and retail vendors, including Acapulco Pico, Dolce Monachelli’s, Hillside Farms, The Original Scratch BBQ, Me Gusta Thai Chicken, Fanciful Gourmet, Intentional Illumination and Glendale Soap. The restaurant’s historic Pagoda Bar will also be open during the event for guests to enjoy specialty cocktails and breathtaking sunset views of the city.

Farmer’s Market admission is free, and VIP valet parking and a complimentary shuttle bus service will be available.

Originally built as a private residence, over its 102-year life, Yamashiro has taken on many identities including a brothel and a boarding house, before becoming a private cocktail lounge for the golden era of the Hollywood elite in 1963. A full-service restaurant soon followed, ultimately catapulting Yamashiro into a world-famous dining destination in the 1970s and ’80s. The property’s regal Asian influences and breathtaking, 180-degree views from downtown Los Angeles to the Santa Monica shore have been featured in popular films such as Memoirs of a Geisha, Gone in 60 Seconds, and Kill Bill, as well as numerous travel shows. The restaurant also welcomed new executive chef Christophe Bonnegrace (formerly of Buddha Bar & Little Buddha in Las Vegas), who is overseeing a revamp of the Asian Fusion-inspired menu.
