Internationally acclaimed eclectic soul singer, songwriter, poet composer and music producer, BUIKA (pronounced BWEE-ka) has been called by the New York Times “something like Nina Simone but more flexible and virtuosic.” Buika has a variety of musical influences, from jazz and flamenco to pop, soul and African polyrhythm. She began her music career as a drummer and bassist, and turned to singing since Spanish audiences preferred female singers over drummers. She has toured worldwide in five continents as well as the Caribbean Islands, and is returning to the US this month for a 9-city tour including the Walt Disney Concert Hall on March 26th.
