“Oh girl, what a drama!”
If you thought YOU’RE relationship was “complicated”, consider removing that status from your Facebook page right away! A Very Modern Marriage by Arthur M. Jolly takes the cake when it comes to knotty intimacy in the modern century.
He’s married to her, she wants freedom and support. He wants a wife that cares and one anniversary evening where they don’t fight. Enter the gay friend. He wants her to give him a home away from home, is lusting over her brand new Kimono and he incidentally – wants her husband. Pretty standard right?
It’s a three ring circus of anger, resentment, jealousy, and betrayal, trust issues, shooting and stabbing. Yes…WTF!
A Very Modern Marriage gets messy very quickly between the rapid fire dialog, high altitude melodramatics and on stage with the set overall (Christopher just hates picking up his clothes!) But nothing gets lost in this very colloquial 90 minutes script which will truly keep you in stitches right down to the not-so-inconceivable, totally selfish ending.
