Playing LIVE on December 13 — at The Hotel Cafe in Los Angeles!
We nearly fell over when we heard these guys…bringing you way back to sounds like Radiohead, Dr. Dog and Cat Stevens…Indie-folk rock ‘n’ roll trio King Washington sings their own lean, mean version of old-school-reminiscent, mid-60s, counterculture. We love it here at Gia On The Move!
Drawing influence from a variety of artists and genres including Mumford & Sons, Radiohead, Queen and bands of the British Invasion, King Washington was formed in 2005 by an 18-year-old Tyson Kelly (vocals/guitar) straight out of high school. With the addition of George Krikes (vocals/guitar) and Billy Lee (vocals/bass), King Washington became a staple in the Los Angeles music scene with the release of their debut EP Grenadine in 2009. The band released their first full-length album, The Gears, in 2012, which was fully fan-funded and produced by Ambrosia’s Joe Puerta. The next year, King Washington released The Overload and set out on extensive touring.
Having already completed seven tours this year alone, the band has played alongside giants such as Arctic Monkeys, Michael McDonald, Ambrosia, Peter Asher and Denny Laine. King Washington is gaining momentum fast, slated to play weekly residencies in Chicago, Milwaukee, Madison, and Rochester (MN) in November. Get the dates …click here.
“In an ideal world, King Washington would be topping the pop charts,” and it’s only a matter of time until they do so (7BitArcade.com).
