Makeup Maestro Napoleon Perdis Gives Himself a Makeover

Napoleon Perdies and Tracey Paleo, Gia On The Move

I am a divine goddess!  Napoleon Perdis says SO!

Simply Auto Pilot courtesy of my Pre-Foundation Skin Primer, (because NOT TO PRIME IS A CRIME) applications of completely un-smudgeable  China Doll Gell Eyeliner, Devine Goddess Lipstick enriched with natural oils to protect my pout and new Camera Finish Powder Foundation packed with Goji Berry Extract, Squalane, and Vitamins C and E.

“I’m ready for my close up Mr. Perdis!”

Education is everything according to top makeup maestro Napoleon Perdis who heads seven academies in Australia and the flagship U.S. location on Hollywood Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA.  Napoleon has recently upgraded his L.A. Makeup Academy into a state of the art education facility, adding not only square footage but a working photo studio (so clean, so white!) and a fully equipped event space.  Sleek, industrial-inspired, vibrant, and functional, the decor is unmatched – except for the larger than life founder himself.

Fast!  No more sitting around for hours for glamour do-overs, re-makes or make-ups. It was brush-and-go from the Auto Pilot Napoleon Complex Skin Renewal Serum all the way to my photo shoot and a big kiss from the big N himself.

“Sit her in the window,” he proclaimed.

Well, I was dressed to kill and by the time Leo, my make-up artist du jour  was finished with me, I could have absolutely passed as a perfectly, poised and petulant mannequin. (see below)

I even managed to grab a few delicious hors-d’oeuvres, a glass of sparkling water and a grand tour of the new digs including the special private celebrity rooms where forever photographed ladies like Leighton Meester, Lindsay Lohan, Debra Messing, and LeAnn Rimes, all fans, are secreted away for heavenly treatment.  All this for the launch of the new makeup and skin line which is set to become available on, and already in Napoleon Perdis Concept stores.

And imagine…I thought that gorgeous French Quarter looking building on Hollywood Boulevard sitting among the stars between Cherokee and Whitley was a hotel!

The part retail, part event location continues to be an educational space but so plush that any hopeful makeup artist who hasn’t stopped to consider the idea of not only learning technique through a curriculum that covers fashion, trend, runway and red carpet, also gaining professional experience and an industry ready portfolio might want to talk to magazines like NYLON, who have photographed in the new studio, as well as LA and New York Fashion Week hosts, why less than a dynamic presentation just won’t make the cut.  And not to worry because all of the resources are here.

Fresh and beautiful and undeniably glamorous, the Spring highlights featured first this year at LA Fashion Weekend are:

The Ultimate Contour Palette.  “For Supermodel Cheekbones.” A can’t-work-without essential enhanced with marine extracts and entirely paraben-free will give you a healthy hue and shimmer. Also featuring Irish Moss which is laden with vitamins and softens the skin.

Quick tip: Contour underneath the cheekbones and the temples with the dark shade. Blend color on the apple of the cheeks.  Finish with the highlighter tone on the top of the cheekbones for added definition.

China Doll Gell Eyeliner. “My favorite!” Glides on effortlessly for ultimate control and comfort.  Hypoallergenic and quick-drying.  Lasts all day.  Quick tip: For a real ‘eye-opener’, line the inner rim of any eye color with Alabaster.  For striking definition, line the inner rim of any eye color with Equinox.

Auto Pilot Napoleon Complex.  “Replace the wrinkle with a twinkle.”  Featuring Australian berry extracts of Pepperberry, Riberry and Muntari Berry.  Aboriginal women used to use it so soften their skin and repair damage from all of that sun.

Mesmer-Eyes Mascara.  “Like a miracle bra for your lashes!” Containing Vitamin E, Panthenol, Bamboo Extracts, Carnauba Wax and Rice Bran Wax (it’s so yummy it’s almost edible!)  I love the dual combo wand which is totally bendable for sculpting lashes in the harder to reach places.

Quick tip: Napoleon always has his makeup artists do their clients lashes first after foundation application.  This way you know where you are going with your look, soft or dramatic.

Auto Pilot Pre-Foundation Skin Primer.  Prep the skin with an essential Lingerie item and get even more gorgeous with a smooth complexion and flawless finish. Features Chamomile and Yarrow extracts, calming botanicals with anti-inflammatory properties.

Quick tip: As a summer foundation alternative mix with a cream or liquid bronzer for a sheer bronze no make-up look.
