Football Season: I Love Sundays!

Peace love worldimage001

It’s football season and you’re finally hanging out with the guys for a Sunday Night game. What should you wear to score points with the fanatic crowd?  Yes, you’re a girl. But there’s no way you’ll be interrupting a perfect touchdown by prancing around in your girliest gear. Your getting a feeling that hulking it up on the couch with the boys could be an option, but probably not your best. And the thought of body slamming at the local bar over wings and beer,  in an oversized team jersey isn’t quite your style either.

If you’re longing for a bit of middle ground, maybe it’s time to break out some comfy chic instead. Think sporty pieces like Peace Love World’s I Love Sunday V-Neck Tee, topped with classic duck boots, trendy puffer jackets and some relaxed jeans.

The I Love Sundays Pima V-Neck Tee is super soft made with premium cotton. Once you slip it on, you’ll discover its fan-favorite unisex fit and adore the details like “I love Sundays” printed across the front. And while Sunday only comes once a week, you’ll love this T all year round even after the season ends.

A Whole New Shaq Attack — Wake Up America!

Shaq & Mom

Boys & Girls Clubs of America Kicks Off Back To School with Shaq & his Mom!

by Tracey Paleo, Gia On The Move ~
Retired NBA Legend Shaquille O’Neal and his mom Lucille sounded the morning alarm — literally — as part of one of the Largest Wake Up Calls on Thursday, August 1st in New York City. It was a signal to the start of a unique event where hundreds of teenagers competed in a creative obstacle course designed to dramatize the daily activities of all kids getting ready for their school day. But… they were challenged by difficulties, distractions and disturbances that made their attempt to get to school and receive that final diploma a huge undertaking.

Shaq and his mom know firsthand that by providing kids with a safe, constructive environment and dynamic after school programming, Boys & Girls Clubscan make a difference, especially for those most in need. As a kid growing up, the former basketball star often headed to the Boys and Girls Club to hangout with friends and talk with mentors about his future.

Shaquille O'NealShaq has said it was at the Boys and Girls Club where he learned to be a leader and not a follower.

The event is part of the Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) national Tools for Back-to-School campaign, encouraging parents, families, and communities alike to support academic preparedness for our youth, especially those most in need, by providing access to necessary tools and resources, including Boys & Girls Clubs. As part of this event, JCPenney served as BGCA’S partner in raising awareness about the importance of academic preparedness and the BGCA’S after-school programs which help support kids ensuring they have the right tools to be successful this school year.

San Francisco 49ers Player Vernon Davis Has A Reason to Celebrate: Life Is Art Beyond The Superbowl

Vernon DavisThe Superbowl is over and although it may have been a disappointment for 49er fans, for one player, there is plenty to celebrate. Most professional football players are not opening art galleries and funding arts scholarships but then again, most professional NFL players, are not Vernon Davis. An artist in his free time, the 49ers tight end recently opened the art Gallery 85 in the Santana Row strip of San Jose.    Gallery 85 is not just a passing phase for Davis.  Vernon Davis is also a talented, trained visual artist who majored in studio art at the University of Maryland.

The art gallery is named after Davis’ 85 jersey number and heavily features his works.

Veron Davis

Among the more established names on display, like contemporary abstract artist Melissa Ayr and jazz painter Bruni Sablan, the mixed media sculptures of Nyijale (pronounced Nigel) Cummings –- the newest recipient of the Vernon Davis Scholarship for the Arts — shows the caliber of Davis, the Gallery and his cause.  The Vernon Davis Foundation for the Arts was created by artist, athlete, and philanthropist Vernon Davis to promote art education and art appreciation among youth from disadvantaged backgrounds.

“We fulfill our mission by providing scholarships to dedicated art students and grants to deserving nonprofit programs who share in our ideals.”

The Red Zone at Gallery 85
Until February 10th, Gallery 85 is showing “The Red Zone” a curated group exhibition focusing on the works by artists in the Bay Area. The theme of the exhibition is a springboard to the gallery’s new space, the New Year and to highlight the Foundation’s mission.  Participating Artists: Melissa AyrJohn Casey, Alexis Amann, Namita Kapoor, Christine Morla, Phe Ruiz, Melody Kennedy, Manny Silva, Casey Gray, Randy Bricco, Garett Malate, Bruni, Mark Gray, Lorraine Lawson, Jason Burton, Bruni, Mark Gray and more.

Melissa-Ayr-Golden-Gate-Bridge-9-Crop-500Contemporary Abstract Artist, Melissa Ayr is an artist who paints with air. Born in New York, Ayr has emerged from her studio as an international contemporary abstract artist, with a fresh perspective on contemporary painting with her unique practice of using a leaf blower to push paint on canvas. Ayr releases her latest works as a collection inspired by California, the Poppy Collection sets the tone and elements of this floral series with vibrant luminosity. Classically trained in the elements of composition, color and perspective, Ayr creates her own canvas and color pallet with a mixture of pigment, oil and acrylic.  Her art is on the cutting edge of color with bold flowing blends of light and dark. Her style is colorful, vibrant, and full of texture. She incorporates high energy, fluidity, growth and life.   The Poppy collection is a body of work created entirely using air. Her instrument of choice is her signature leaf blower which enables Melissa to move layers of paint across the canvas with swift strokes creating an ethereal style that is neither tempered nor deliberate. http://www.melissaayr.com

Crowd Funding Makes Fan-Based Pro Football Team Ownership a Reality

“The future of fan-based team ownership is racing toward us at light speed!  A-11 FOOTBALL LEAGUE’S FAN-BASED OWNERSHIP IS ON THE HORIZON WITH CROWD FUNDING.”

“Growing up, many football fans dreamt of playing or coaching pro football, and they also wondered what it would be like to own a pro football team. In the past, becoming an owner of a pro football team was reserved for the ultra-wealthy. The future of fan-based team ownership is racing toward us at light speed.”

Funding Launch Pad (Boulder, CO), will pioneer at least the League’s first Top 10 teams’ equity-based Crowd Funding campaigns regionally & nationally for each Team to begin operations. Funding Launch Pad will shortly unveil their capital-raising platform to enable each City Group, their football fans and private investors to participate in the “Fan Funding” and Ownership of their A-11FL team scheduled to begin play in April 2013.

Dance: Ankle Stability Help

Just like the core, dancers need to focus on feet for strength and stability

Simply start standing on one leg during the day.  As often as you can during the day simply stand on one leg, bend the knees slightly making sure that your arches are activated, your big toe is still in contact with the ground and your knee cap is over the second toe.  If this is easy, try closing your eyes.  By challenging your balance frequently during the day you will increase the responsiveness of the little muscles and ligaments around your feet and ankles and this can help to stabilize them.
